Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cerebral palsy (too free interpretation).

Is MRI necessary or not? Many times I had to interact with parents who were eager to do brain MRI to their babies. Really this diagnostic method is luxurious. You can see the whole brain of a child. Many changes can be found in the brain and it is necessary to explain them to a patient in each particular case. In most cases with cerebral palsy treatment policy does not change, no matter what can be seen on MRI.

In order to explain this phrase I refer you to the article with the following link: On the other hand the use of MRI is justified only when a child can be persuaded to lie still for 20-30 minutes.

images (1)If you cannot persuade a child, general anesthesia must be administered and it is not always safe for a patient. Brain hypoxia is increased for a certain period of time after anesthetization. This examination is not required to obtain disability. Such methods as electroneuromyography, evoked potentials and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) are more suitable in order to estimate brain activity of a child with cerebral palsy. They will be discussed later.
